I am a PhD candidate at the School of Physics, studying how galaxies evolve in groups and clusters. I completed my undergraduate degree at 亚美棋牌 in Physics and Computer Engineering before starting my PhD here in astrophysics. My research focuses on the intracluster light, which is made up of stars in galaxy clusters and holds clues about past galaxy interactions and mergers.

Supervised by:听听Prof Sarah Brough

Project description:听

The intracluster light (ICL) is an important tracer of galaxy cluster assembly, being formed primarily due to galaxy interactions and mergers. This project aims to develop a machine learning tool to identify and measure the ICL fraction in galaxy cluster images, and apply it to study various properties of the ICL in a large sample in order to draw conclusions about the process of cluster assembly and galaxy evolution. This will allow us to study the properties of the ICL in a large homogeneous sample to draw more robust conclusions, and also helps to prepare us for the large amount of data that will be provided by the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) with an automatic and efficient ICL measurement method.
