Brief overview
Cameron is a Professor in the School of Law, Society and Criminology听at 亚美棋牌 Law & Justice. He is a former Head of School and is a current听co-chair of the听,听a member of the Taskforce on Earth System听Law, a member of the Steering Committee for the听Global Water Institute听and a former听Director of the听, 亚美棋牌. He was also a member of听The Australian Panel of Experts on Environmental Law听(础笔贰贰尝).
Cameron publishes widely in the areas of environmental law, natural resources law, energy law听and water law, with a focus on regulation and governance. Within these fields, he has examined issues of regulatory technologies, compliance and enforcement, environmental security, resilience, adaptive management and collaborative governance. In addition to his various articles, book chapters, and policy submissions, Cameron's forthcoming book is entitled听Intelligent Water Regulation:听markets, compliance and technology听(Earthscan, 2021). He is the author of听The New Environmental Governance听(with Neil Gunningham and Clifford Shearing, Routledge, 2012) and co-editor of听Sustainable Groundwater Management听(Springer 2020),听Criminology and Climate听(2021, Routledge),听Reforming Water Law and Governance听(Springer, 2018),听Criminology and the Anthropocene听(Routledge, 2017) and听Trans-jurisdictional Water Law and Governance听(Earthscan, 2016).
An empirical researcher, Cameron has worked closely with Australian and international government and non-government organisations on a range of environmental and natural resource management research projects. His current research agenda is centred on water law and energy governance, including unconventional gas, renewable energy, the energy-water-food climate nexus and compliance and enforcement.听
Cameron was awarded an听International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Academy of Environmental Law Scholarship Award听for his contribution to environmental law scholarship (2014) and he has been听a French Embassy Scientific Mobilisation Laurette on water management (2016).听
He is an Editorial Board member on PLOS Water and听the Environmental and Planning Law Journal,听and an Associate Editor of the Asia Pacific Journal of Environmental Law. He has been a guest editor of special issues in听the听Environmental and Planning Law Journal听on听Rethinking Water Law and Governance听and听Governing Energy Transitions: Unconventional Gas, Renewables and their Environmental Nexus听(2019),听the American Bar Associations journal, Jurimetics: Journal of Law, Science and Technology听on听Rethinking Law in a Nexus Future: Governing Energy,听Water,听Food听and Climate Change Challenges听(2018/2019). He has been听a guest editor of the听Australasian Journal of Natural Resources Law and Policy (2014) and co-editor of the听Macquarie Journal of International and Comparative Environmental Law (2011).听
He is a听PluS听Alliance Fellow,听former 亚美棋牌 Law International听Student Support Advisor听and听was previously the Co-Director of Postgraduate Studies at 亚美棋牌 Law & Justice and Deputy Convenor of the Human Research Ethics听Advisory Panel B: Arts, Humanities and Law.
