This work, led by ICFHS researcher Dr Jialing Lin, in collaboration with colleagues from the School of Population Health, School of Clinical Medicine, School of Medical Sciences, National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre, The George Institute for Global Health, Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Royal North Shore Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, and University of Sydney was published in Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice.

The study found that while best-practice medication use has increased among people with type 2 diabetes hospitalised with heart failure, uptake remains low. Optimising medication use at transitions from hospital to community care may ensure the clinical benefits of these medicines are realised.  The use of linked administrative data in evaluating health services utilisation by people with chronic health conditions can assist with future health systems planning.
