Who we are

Research Technology Services (ResTech) manages ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ's shared high-performance computing and data platforms. We support researchers with access to computation, technical expertise, in-project software engineering, and training. We also provide tools to collect, store, share, and manage data as simply and securely as possible.

Our services are available not only to all ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ researchers (staff and research degree candidates), but also to external researchers, government, and industry users through collaborations and partnerships.

Computing

Researchers have access to a range of high-performance computing systems and services with advanced CPU/GPU cores. These computers are useful for intensive parallel processing workloads.

Our computing resources include, but are not limited to: the three supercomputers listed below, National Research Cloud (Nectar), our ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ cloud services, Jupyter notebook, Open OnDemand, Imaging tools, and other packages.

Contact us if you need access to CPU or GPU capacity or AI models for your project.

Katana

Shared computational cluster designed to provide a flexible environment for researchers to share resources and run intensive jobs that aren’t possible on a desktop. Located on the Kensington campus, Katana contains over 8,076 CPU cores, 171 compute nodes including 26 GPU nodes (NVIDIA L40S, V100, A100, H200 and GH200) and ~10PB of disk storage.

Gadi & Pawsey

³Ò²¹»å¾±Ìý() and Pawsey are Australia's fastest supercomputers and the country's only Tier-1 High Performance Computing facilities.

ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ staff and postgraduate students can access both supercomputers to support their research. Time spent is measured in service units (SUs) and made available to researchers through various allocation schemes.

Data

Our research data platforms and tools help researchers collect, store, share, visualise and manage their data easily and securely.

Contact us for help with projects that require sensitive data, data sharing agreements, alignment with the national data commons, large data storage and transfer, or other specialised data needs.

Community & training

Our research community partnering program provides free technical training courses to upskill ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ researchers and industry collaborators.

We leverage expertise from ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ faculties, schools, centres and labs to provide bespoke informational workshops and seminars, along with internal/external networking opportunities. Additionally, we collaborate with our National Infrastructure providers, vendors, and industry partners to align our training and events.

Contact us if you want us to present or engage with ÑÇÃÀÆåÅÆ researchers.
