Dr Amanuel Hagos is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with听the Justice Health Research Program at the School of Population Health, 亚美棋牌. He is also a project manager for NHMRC funded 'Ageing in Prison Longitudinal Study (A-PLUS)' looking听at health and frailty trajectories of justice-involved older adults. Before his current role and during the time of his PhD candidature, he worked as a project officer in the school of psychiatry, 亚美棋牌, coordinating a research project on improving palliative care for people with intellectual disability.
Amanuel has a unique combination of strong听industry experience in the non-profit sector in health and emerging research capability in public health centred on addressing health inequity among priority population including justice-involved older adults, people with intellectual disability and those living with HIV/AIDS.
His extensive experience in public health in the non-profit sector spanned听from health services and health systems program management to operational research, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, overseeing health听grants (projects valued at AUD $69 million) and evaluation of health and nutrition services. He held senior advisory and managerial roles in large public health programs with international organisations such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland (Irish Aid), Save the Children, Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) and IntraHealth International.听
With a foundation in quantitative research and a progressive application of qualitative research, Amanuel has developed strong research skills in mixed methods research.听His research interests encompass ageing and justice health, palliative care and intellectual disability, health equity, intellectual disability and the criminal justice system, integrated care, and community health services.

Amanuel currently manages two seed grants involving research among justice-involved older adults. He has also been working as听associate investigator in other NHMRC and Australian Government funded large grants. Research Projects 1. 听Amanuel is engaged in multiple research activities in the Justice Health Research Program. As associate investigator and project manager of the Ageing in Prison Longitudinal Study (A-PLUS), he is actively involved in health and frailty research among justice-involved older adults. He also contributes to other research projects in the group including the Audio app-delivered Screening for Cognition and Age-related health in Prisoners (ASCAPE), the听ReINVEST, and domestic violence studies.

My Teaching
Amanuel has previously worked as a tutor of two courses and is currently involved in the Public Health and Corrections elective course. He is enthusiastic of teaching other courses in his areas of expertise including global health and development, qualitative research, health care systems, primary care, and international health.听
