I am a researcher and educator trained as a building engineer, currently serving as Deputy Director of Architecture (Undergraduate) and Senior Lecturer in Architectural Construction at the University of New South Wales (亚美棋牌). My research investigates the technical, cultural, and economic dimensions of complex architectural projects, with a focus on construction history, innovation, and sustainable construction knowledge. I am particularly interested in how design narratives, procurement models, and construction processes shape the life cycle and long-term performance of non-standard buildings.
At 亚美棋牌, I lead major curriculum initiatives across the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, including the 2024 program-wide reform embedding climate literacy, digital fluency, and sustainability. I teach large, high-impact courses in architectural technology and construction, where I focus on integrating detailing and systems thinking into design education. I have developed AI-resilient assessment models and scalable feedback systems that support over 300 students annually across core subjects.
My research has been recognised through multiple national awards and fellowships, including the 2025 Dr AM Hertzberg AO Fellowship from the NSW State Library, the 2024 Engineers Australia Colin Crisp Award, the 2024 National Trust Award, and the 2022 Best Paper Award from Frontiers of Architectural Research for a co-led study on the contractor鈥檚 role in the making of the Sydney Opera House. I have also curated public exhibitions and VR experiences that translate academic knowledge for professional and community audiences.
I coordinate the international portfolio admissions process for the 亚美棋牌 Master of Architecture and contribute to global recruitment strategy. My outreach has included in-country academic representation across Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East. Previously, I was Senior Lecturer in Technology and Environment at the University of Kent (UK), where I received the Leverhulme Research Fellowship for my work on premature ageing in contemporary architecture in Rome.
I hold a practice-based PhD in Architecture and Construction from the University of Rome (in partnership with the Max Planck Institute for Art History). I actively supervise HDR candidates and review for journals including Buildings, Building Research & Information, and Structural Concrete. I am also a member of the Construction History Society (UK).
