Overview
Baxter College is often regarded as the most socially active of the three colleges. In recent years, it has consistently topped the sports leaderboard.
The Baxter play and variety show provide entertainment for all. A host of fun, non-competitive activities and the annual Baxter Ball ensure that there's always something exciting happening!
Student support
You鈥檒l be supported by an on-site team consisting of the Dean, Deputy Dean, and Resident Mentors (or RMs). Each floor has an RM tasked with offering academic guidance, pastoral support and ensuring the well-being of all residents.
We run peer-led study groups to help students adjust to the academic requirements of university study. We also host study sessions and uplifting wellbeing programs guided by our Wellbeing Officer. This helps everyone smoothly transition from high school to university!
Living on campus makes everything easier. I can walk to class in minutes, and having separate spaces for study and socialising creates a great balance. I鈥檝e made so many friends who鈥檝e made my experience even more rewarding. Productivity and social life overlap so naturally here.
Mondira Paul
Resident Mentor
College has been all about community for me. Coming from a rural area, I quickly connected with the people and made lifelong friends. I became a Resident Mentor after being inspired by the support I received. The accommodation team here does a great job of putting community and wellbeing at the heart of the college experience.
Lachlan Hammond
Resident Mentor
Baxter College has been amazing. It鈥檚 such a diverse community and getting to know people from different backgrounds has helped me grow. College is the place you go to make friends and there are so many events and experiences that bring people together.

Lauren Ryznar聽| Dean of Philip Baxter College
I have come a weird and wonderful route to become Dean here at Philip Baxter! Believe it or not I started out my career as a self-employed Dance teacher in Scotland, having studied a Masters of Science in Dance Science and Education from Edinburgh University, and was involved with both the Royal Academy of Dance and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.聽
From there I moved to South Korea to teach in an International School on the beautiful island of Jeju, where I fell into the role of Housemistress and fell in love with how rewarding I found building relationships rather than delivering subject specific knowledge. This change of direction is what led me to my role here as Dean of Baxter where I have the pleasure of creating a College culture which is inclusive and engaging.聽
Emma Suzuki聽| Deputy Dean of Philip Baxter College
Through my uni placements, especially working in a mental health setting, I discovered how much I enjoy supporting people鈥檚 wellbeing and helping them find their strengths. I loved my time living in college and the sense of community it gave me. Becoming Deputy Dean felt like a natural step鈥攊t鈥檚 a way to give back to a place that鈥檚 shaped so many of my connections and opportunities.
College gave me the chance to build a strong support network and form friendships that have shaped my life beyond high school. It鈥檚 where I found my people. Now, as Deputy Dean, I see the same thing happening for new residents鈥攎eaningful connections form here quickly and last well beyond college.
Resident Mentors
Resident Mentors (RMs) are staff members at 亚美棋牌, typically in their final years of study or already holding a degree. RMs reside with the students on their floors and provide daily academic and pastoral support. While RMs aren鈥檛 teachers, they are similar to a supportive older sibling with loads of experience to share and a genuine willingness to help guide the residents.
House Committee
The House Committee is composed of student leaders elected annually by residents in various portfolios aimed at offering residents opportunities to be involved in extra-curricular activities. The House Committee includes an executive group of a president, secretary and treasurer and administers a budget each year across areas such as cultural, sport, social, charities and communications.
